The Lions may be evil and dirty to some in the NFL and to most in the mainstream media. But if you go by the current Pro Bowl balloting, fans sure seem to think differently. Just take a look at the early returns in the Pro Bowl voting.

Calvin Johnson is in the upper echelon of players, 3rd overall.

Via DetroitLions.com:

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is currently third-overall in Pro Bowl voting with 487,547 votes, trailing only Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers (589,801 votes) and New England quarterback Tom Brady (537,780 votes).

Fans are acknowledging Megatron as one of the NFL's elite receivers. I hope Chris Carter isn't too distraught over this news.

Not to be left out of the fun is the most EVIL Lion of them all, Ndamukong Suh.

Another top vote-getter for Detroit is defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who currently leads all NFC defensive tackles with 269,506 votes.

Apparently, playing with a edge and a great deal of physicality actually appeals to NFL fans everywhere! Is anyone honestly surprised?

The Lions are developing players fans love to hate...but would love to have on their team. To the credit of those fans, they aren't blinded by the media's "Lions play dirty" meme. It's not stopping them from voting for deserving players, even if the Pro Bowl is essentially a glorified popularity contest.

Via NFL.com, here's the voting leaders by position.

PRo Bowl totals as of 11-15-11
